Archives & State Records

Archives are really useful repositories of family history-related records, such as shipping records, divorce records, probate records and records of inquests. All of the Australian State and Territory governments have online sites for their archives, with access to indexes of various records. You can usually request copies of records that aren’t available online (for a fee). Links to the main Australian archive sites are below.
